Wyrd and Wonder is back in 2022 with their fifth edition and like the previous two years, I am very excited to participate and have some fun reading fantasies and writing about my favorites. Before I get started with my plans, let me give an overview of W&W from the hosts themselves…

Wyrd and Wonder is an annual geek-out of like-minded adventurers as we celebrate the fantastic on our blogs and social media feeds through May. Come share your enthusiasm and recommendations (book bags of holding highly recommended) with an amazing group of other fantasy fans. We’ll be reading and reviewing books, talking about movies and tv shows, playing games and sharing our thoughts on anything vaguely fantasy-related through blog posts, bookstagrams, booktoks, booktubes, Litsy posts and tweets galore – all connected by the #wyrdandwonder hashtag.

Readalongs

There are two readalongs happening in the month of May for Wyrd and Wonder, The Summer Tree by Guy Gavriel Kay and The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black. I’ve read Holly’s Book already and you should definitely try it if you enjoyed The Cruel Prince trilogy. I don’t know if I’ll participate in the readalongs yet though.

There is also a Bingo Board, few Fantastic Five prompts to choose from and a whole month of photo challenge prompts. If you wanna know all the details, you can checkout a comprehensive post by Annemieke here.

My TBR

April was the month I read the least amount of books in 2022, so I am not sure how much I will be able to read this month. But I do have a quite a good number of pending arcs I haven’t been able to catch up on, some I have been putting off and a few surprise additions to my TBR.

Kaikeyi is undoubtedly my most anticipated release of this year but despite having the arc in my hands, I haven’t read it yet. I know I do this a lot, putting off books I desperately want to love but I am not gonna postpone this anymore. I’m gonna try very hard to make this my first read of May.

I know the title of this book but I’ve never thought of reading this before. But one of my book clubs chose this for the month of May and I wanna see what it’s all about.

Another arc which I haven’t read yet but mostly because I don’t remember anything from Black Sun despite loving it and now I am unsure how to proceed. But I recently found a small recap of the first book here, so I guess it’s time I catch up with this sequel.

Yes, I’ve only read one book by the author, Paladin’s Grace. Yes I have two more to go in that series. but the author recently had a new book release with Nettle & Bone and it sounds creepy which isn’t my thing, but I just wanna give all the author’s books a try. Very much looking forward to this.

Ever since I loved Iron Widow, I have been waiting for Xiran’s next book and I couldn’t believe that it was gonna be a middle grade novel. But I am very excited to see how they write for an even more younger audience and the premise of this book is very exciting. I am also participating in a blog tour next week for Zachary Ying, so I probably have to pick this up immediately.

I have never read any David Dalglish book before but I have heard some good things about them. And while I can’t be sure if I will catch up on any of his backlist series, I am very interested in this new fantasy series, and books with rebellions are always fun to read.

This anthology has been on my TBR since the day I knew it was gonna release and it’s been months, I have no reason not to have read it yet. So lets see if Wyrd and Wonder will finally make me pick it up. I am sure exploring the history and backstories of the immortals will be fun.

Seven sounds like a reasonable number of books to want to read for a mood reader like me. Let’s hope I can read atleast few of them. If you’ve already read them, do feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below… And if you are also participating in Wyrd and Wonder and are interested in any recent fantasy buddy reads, hit me up and let’s plan..
