It’s a new year, which means there are many many more amazing books going to be releasing soon and increasing my neverending TBR. So, I thought this would be the perfect time to talk you all about some of the amazing books releasing from February to June of this year which I am very excited to read. I am skipping January because I’ve already done a whole post about these releases here, so please do check it out as well.
I’m a huge Natalie Haynes Greek mythology retellings fan, so I’m eagerly waiting to get my hands on a copy of Stone Blind, preferably the audiobook coz she is also a wonderful narrator. I’ve heard some mixed reviews but I still wanna check it out.
Roshani Chokshi has a way with writing and her prose can be either a hit or miss but I feel like The Last Tale of the Flower Bride will be THE book which will make me completely fall in love with her writing. So, I’m definitely very eager to get to it.
Priory was a surprise favorite when I managed to read it, so I’m very very interested to see how the prequel A Day of Fallen Night turns out to be, and if I will discover more about this world which I already love.
I know Lavanya’s debut The Ten Percent Thief released as Analog/Virtual in India before but I never was able to get a copy then, so I’m very glad I have it now and I’m very excited to read it.
The Unbroken was a very intense fantasy debut in 2021 and I was just happy at the time that I was getting to read one of the Sapphic Trifecta books. Now I actually have a physical copy of the arc of The Faithless with that absolutely stunning and sexy cover and I can’t wait to get to it. Just have to refresh my memory of the first a bit.
I’ve had some very fun conversations about wuxia/xianxia and cdramas and so much more with Mia both on twitter and discord and I can’t describe how excited I am to read her debut which just happens to be both contemporary fantasy and xianxia, Bitter Medicine. I’m sure I will love it.
I literally didn’t know until a couple of days ago that Rep. Katie Porter has a memoir coming out in April called I Swear and I immediately had to add it to my TBR. I can see it has a very fun vibe to it and I can’t wait.
Some Desperate Glory is one of those books which I’ve been hearing good things about for months now, especially from authors I love, so I really wanna see what it’s all about.
I may not have yet read The Bone Shard Emperor but I’m already excited for The Bone Shard War. I’ll probably just have to binge read the two.
I feel like I’ve been waiting for The Water Outlaws to release for years now. I know nothing about the original Chinese classic and I think I do have an abridged translation of it, I don’t know if I will read it before the release of Huang’s reimagining, which I’m definitely more excited for.
I was perfectly happy with Little Thieves being a standalone but I’m equally happy that it’s getting a sequel and Vanya accidentally forming a cult seems like it’ll be a very fun ride.
I’ve only read Martha Wells’s Murderbot Diaries which I adore, so I don’t exactly know her fantasy prowess. And I’m bad at getting to backlists, so I’m glad I’ll get to read her fantasy new release this year with Witch King.
A murder mystery being solved but the story told through 18 different POVs each written by a different author – The Grimoire of Grave Fates sounds like such a fun book and I can’t imagine how it’ll turn out to be.
Kritika’s debut The Surviving Sky is my top most anticipated book of the year and there’s no two ways about it. I so wish there was a way I could get the arc of this in my hands.
The AI Gods and mechs in The Archive Undying sound like they’ll be super cool and after getting Shelley Parker-Chan’s glowing endorsement, I just had to add it to my TBR. And wow that cover is so cool too.
This is by no means an extensive list of releases that I’m excited for till June but I just wanted to list a few each month which have really grabbed my attention. Have you already read any of these books? What are your most anticipated releases? Do let me know in the comments below..
